We have a date set for Moonrises surgery: May 6. However, even with our reduced rate for rescues, we are still short of our goal by $200 per eye. Please read about moonrise below if you haven't already.

Cause 4 Paws Feline Rescue seeks funding to help Precious--a rescued 9 month old kittens who is all of 3 & 1/2 pounds. This is an appropriate size for a 3 - 4 month-old kitten. She was the runt of her litter, and her litter was the 11th litter in 4 years born outside to a female cat in Blainville whose owners did not believe in having her sterilized. The mother is now sterilized--we made that a condition of taking the kittens, and Precious' littermates, all healthy, strapping, tabby males, have found homes.

Precious, however, has not been so lucky. She was found with a terrible eye infection that is being treated with Gentamicin Ophthalmic eye drops, and Precious is being given one month worth of Doxyciclin to help with Haemobartonella, or feline infectious anemia.

This would explain her stunted growth and lethargy. It is parasitic disease that attacks the red blood cells. What's so sad is that the major cause is so easily preventable: flea bites. Anti-parasite treatments could have prevented all of this. Affected cats develop severe anemia and other illnesses. Cats that survive have a good long-term outlook, or we would not seek funding to help with her treatment.

She is being fostered by a CEGEP student who loves her, and will give her a forever home. But he does not have the money to provide her with the expensive diagnosis and care she now needs. She does have a future, both in terms of potential for a meaningful recovery, and a safe, warm. loving home.

If you would like to help Precious, or if you can foster cats for us or are looking to adopt a pet, please call 514-684-4810, write catwhisperer@sympatico.ca, or visit our website at cause4pawsrescue.com A PayPal button is located in the "Help Out" tab of our website if you're able to make a donation to help Precious or Moonrise.

On behalf of these who have no voice, the cats and kittens that you help us to help, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We urgently seek help for a lovely long-haired, spayed and declawed brown tabby named Moonrise who is completely blind in both eyes. She is a pet we are rehoming and suffered an injury before coming to us. The scar material was and remains obvious. She also, we are told, contracted rhino and calicivirus, two upper-respiratory viruses, that seem to have remained untreated, and the infection spread to her eyes. Both eyeballs have completely popped out, and the agony this sweet cat went through must have been of long duration and excruciating. We seek funds to take her to a vet who deals in ophthalmology so that the exposed tissue where the eyeballs should be can be covered so at least she is not vulnerable to further infection and pain. Sadly, there is nothing more anyone can do. She is blinded for life. The tragedy is that this was all so easily preventable. Donations can be made via cheque or PayPal. There is a PayPal button in the “Help Out” tab of our website. Donors will be sent before and after pictures, once she has had the surgery she requires. Please contact us at 514-684-4810 or email us at catwhisperer@sympatico.ca. Moonrise is now is a loving foster home where she gets lots of attention, good nutrition, and leads a relatively stress-free life. Nothing can restore her sight, but we want the highest quality of life possible for her. She purrs and cuddles constantly and is extremely affectionate. We seek a permanent home for her, as well as donations toward the veterinary treatment that, had she had before coming to us, could easily have prevented the suffering and lasting consequences. We see a lot of sadness in cat rescue, but before you look at the photo, be aware that nothing can quite prepare you for this.
